Almost everyone knows the basics about
margarita making, but a truly
spectacular Margarita is a little trickier. This is a special request recipe
from my customers at La Hacienda Restaurant in Los Gatos.
Special Margarita
Ingredients:
Kosher Salt
Roses Lime Juice
3 ounces good tequila (Cuervo Gold is good, Porfidio, Terra Firma or Patron
are better)
1 1/2 ounce Cointreau (same as triple sec only better)
2
ounces Sweet and Sour Mix
Splash of Orange Juice
Splash of Grand Marnier
1 Fresh Lime
Ice
First you need 2 bucket glasses (tumbler type) made of glass, no plastic
please. Dip the rims of the glass in roses lime juice and then salt the rims
with kosher salt. (Do this with little plates) Fill the glasses with ice, set
aside for a moment.
Now you need something that will work as a
shaker, you will need to
put all these ingredients into something you can cover and shake like
crazy. It has to be at least 16 oz or larger.
Fill your shaker with ice almost to the top.
Pour in the tequila, Cointreau,
sweet and sour mix, splash of orange juice, splash of Grand Marnier,
splash of Roses Lime Juice, and half of the fresh lime all cut up. Shake
this mixture vigorously for about 30 seconds, strain and pour into prepared
glasses. Garnish with the remaining limes, sit back and pretend you
are in Cabo on vacation.
