Bacon Wrapped Dates

24 lg. moist dates
12 slices bacon, cut in half
2 oz. softened goat cheese (chevre)
24 toasted almonds

Move oven rack to upper third of the oven and preheat oven to 500 degrees.
Pit dates, tearing them open as little as possible. 
Put goat cheese into a pastry bag fitted with a pastry bag fitted with a round,
plain, 1/4 inch tip. Stuff each date with an almond.  Pipe goat cheese into
each date.  Wrap one piece of bacon around each date. 
Put dates on cookie sheet, seam side down.  Bake until bacon is golden
and crisp, 6-8 minutes.  Cool slightly before serving.
